Suggest options: good / better / best drafts from similar sold jobs

Overview#

On a job's Estimates card, Suggest options drafts up to three options (good, better, best) modelled on estimates you've sold on similar jobs: the same job type, or the same kind of equipment. Every line is an item in your pricebook at today's pricebook price. Each draft cites the jobs it's based on. Add to estimate turns the drafts into a normal estimate you edit, present or dismiss. Nothing is sent.

Before you start#

• You need permission to write estimates and see the pricebook.

• It needs at least 2 sold estimates on similar jobs, or equipment on file at the location (drafting from equipment alone needs AI).

• With AI connected, AI assembles the options from your sold estimates and pricebook. Without it, the options come straight from your sold estimates and are labelled From your records.

Steps#

1. Open the job and scroll to Estimates.

2. Click Suggest options.

3. Read each draft: its lines and prices, its total, and Based on with links to the jobs it came from. Click Why? for the reasoning and sources.

4. Untick any option you don't want.

5. Click Add to estimate. The options appear on the job as a normal estimate.

6. Edit lines, present and sell as usual.

Settings that change this#

• Settings › AI › AI assists › Estimate suggestions.

• Your Pricebook: prices always come from it, so updating the pricebook updates future suggestions.

Tips#

• Old jobs are repriced at today's pricebook prices, never at what you charged back then.

• Lines for items that are no longer in your pricebook are dropped, and the drawer says so.

Troubleshooting#

• "Not enough to go on" → fewer than 2 similar sold estimates and no equipment on file → build this one by hand. Suggestions improve as you sell.

• "A suggested line is no longer in your pricebook" → the item was deactivated after the suggestion → click Suggest options again.

FAQ#

Can AI invent a price? No. AI only picks items and quantities from your pricebook. The price is always the pricebook's.

Does adding an estimate text the customer? No.
