⌘K Ask TradesWork: jump to any page, ask about the business

Overview#

Press ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows from any office page, or click Ask TradesWork in the top bar. Type a page name, in TradesWork's words or ServiceTitan's ("Follow Up", "Batch/Export Transactions", "Pricebook Connect", "Open Capacity"), and press Enter to go there. If you opt in, you can also ask about the business ("What did we collect this week?") and ask follow-ups. Answers come from your reports and link to the normal screen. Nothing is created or changed from the drawer.

Before you start#

• Page search works for every office user and only lists pages your role can open.

• Answers need Insights access (Owner, Admin, Dispatcher, Accounting) and are off until you turn them on.

• With AI connected, AI picks the metrics; without it, your words are matched to the metric list and the answer says so. Every number comes from your reports.

Steps#

Go to a page#

1. Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K), or click Ask TradesWork in the top bar.

2. Type a page name.

3. Press Enter to open the top match, or click any page in the list. ServiceTitan names show where the page lived in ServiceTitan.

Ask about the business#

1. Open the drawer. The first time, click Turn on answers (or No thanks).

2. Type a question and click Ask (or press Enter).

3. Read the answer and click a link (for example Open Collected) to see the records behind it.

4. To ask a follow-up ("and last month?"), type it and click Ask follow-up.

5. Click Start over to clear the answers.

Settings that change this#

• Settings › AI › AI assists › Ask TradesWork (⌘K): off hides answers for everyone (page search stays).

• The drawer's Turn off business answers link turns answers off for you.

Tips#

• "Create a job for …" opens the normal Book job form. The drawer never creates records.

• Show AI assists at the bottom of the drawer hides every AI helper for you.

Troubleshooting#

• No answers section → you haven't turned answers on, your role has no Insights access, or the assist is off.

• "Matched by keyword" → AI isn't connected; numbers are still exact.

• A page you expect doesn't show → your role can't open it.

FAQ#

Can the drawer change my data? No. It only finds pages and reads numbers.

Can it show numbers my role can't see? No. Costing and pay metrics need those permissions.
