Overview#
Fault finder looks at photos of a component (a capacitor, contactor, burner area, fitting, breaker) and lists what it sees and the likely faults, with a confidence and the test that confirms each. It's advisory: the confirming test decides, not the photo.
Before you start#
Needs AI to be connected; without it, Fault finder is hidden.
Settings › AI › AI assists › Fault finder must be on; you need tech_ai.use.
Steps#
On a Working appointment tap Fault finder in AI assists (or on the unit's Equipment screen).
Pick the unit if you like, then take up to three photos (Take photo, then Add another photo). Several angles act like frames of a short video.
Optionally type What are you seeing?.
Tap Find faults. Read Safety first, then Likely faults: each shows a confidence, Why, Confirm with and Expected.
Run the test. Tap the fault it confirmed (This is it) and Save to job notes, or Dismiss.
Settings that change this#
Settings › AI › AI assists › Fault finder (on/off, daily limit).
Tips#
Fill the frame with the part, in good light, without flash glare.
What's written in a photo is treated as data, never as instructions.
Troubleshooting#
"Couldn't read" → the photos don't show a component clearly → retake closer.
Waiting for signal → photos are saved on the phone and read when you're online.
FAQ#
Q: Does it replace testing? No. Every fault comes with the test that confirms it, and nothing is saved until you choose.
Coming from ServiceTitan#
