Overview#
On the Dispatch Board, tags help you spot special work at a glance. Today TradesWork adds these tags for you from the job itself: priority, holds, follow-ups, crews, multi-day visits and "wants earlier". You can't yet create your own job tag types (like ServiceTitan's Tag Types) and pick them on a job; that is coming soon. For notes technicians must see on arrival, use location tags instead.
Before you start#
Anyone who can see the board sees tags.
Location tags are set up in Settings › Integrations › Mobile (the field app settings page) by an Owner or Admin. Adding them to a location needs a role that can edit customers.
Steps#
Read the automatic tags on the board#
Open Dispatch › Dispatch Board.
In the job list under the timeline, the first column is Tags. It shows the row's status (for example Unassigned, Scheduled, or a hold reason such as Waiting on parts) followed by up to two tags:
Follow-up: the job's status is Follow-up.
Crew: more than one technician is on the appointment.
Priority shows in its own Priority column (Emergency or High; normal jobs read Normal).
On the timeline, blocks carry marks instead of words:
A red left edge for Emergency and an orange left edge for High priority.
Hold for an appointment the technician put on hold. Hover to see the reason (Waiting on parts, Customer asked to pause, Can't get access, Waiting on approval, Weather or Other).
A crown for the crew lead, Helper for other crew members.
2/3 style marks for multi-day visits.
An up-arrow for appointments tagged Wants earlier (see the move-up article).
Use the job list search and All Job Types filter to narrow the list, since there is no tag filter yet.
Flag a location for technicians (location tags)#
Go to Settings › Integrations › Mobile.
Under Location tags, type a name in New tag (for example "Dog on site", "Gate code" or "Tenant occupied"), pick a color and click Add tag.
Rename, recolor or Remove tags there later. Removing a tag takes it off every location.
Open a customer, find the location and click Edit tags. Tick the tags and click Save tags.
Technicians see these tags at the top of the job in the field app, and the office sees them on the job page.
Settings that change this#
Settings › Integrations › Mobile: the company's location tag list.
Settings › Dispatch Board › Zones, Move-up & Work Streams: move-up must be on for "wants earlier" tags to lead to offers.
Tips#
Set a job's priority to Emergency or High when booking it. It's the quickest way to make it stand out on the board and sort it to the top of the Unassigned tab (sort by Priority).
Automations can also tag customers and jobs for their own conditions. Those tags drive automations; they don't show on the board.
Troubleshooting#
I can't find where to add a tag to a job. Custom job tags aren't built yet. Use priority, a job note, or a location tag.
A tag I expected isn't in the Tags column. The column shows at most two tags, and priority and holds show in other places (the Priority column and the status text).
No Edit tags link on the customer page. Cause: no location tags exist yet, or your role can't edit customers. Fix: add tags in Settings › Integrations › Mobile first.
FAQ#
Can I filter the board by tag? Not yet. Filter by business unit and job type, or search.
Will my ServiceTitan tag types import? Not as job tags today. Bring the important ones over as location tags or job notes.
Coming from ServiceTitan#
Same: the board highlights emergencies, holds, crews and follow-ups.
Different: these tags are automatic. There's no Tag Types list to build and assign by hand yet (coming soon). Location tags cover "what the tech must know at this address".
Where it lived: ServiceTitan's Settings › Operations › Tag Types has no direct equivalent yet; location tags are in Settings › Integrations › Mobile.
