Overview#
Not sure yet? Import your exports into a sandbox company: a separate company you own, with your real customers and prices, where you can book test jobs and build estimates without touching your real account. When you're happy, go back and import the same files into your real company.
Before you start#
You need the Owner or Admin role.
Your export files (see Switch from ServiceTitan, or the other switching articles).
Steps#
Open Settings › Tools › Import / Export Data and pick your source (ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldEdge or Another system or a spreadsheet).
Drop your files and review What we found and the preview.
In the Import card, choose Try it in a separate sandbox company first (you're its owner; your company isn't touched).
Press Import. The progress card ends with Imported into the sandbox company, and you're working in the sandbox.
A blue banner across the top says Sandbox company: … Nothing here touches your real account.
Try it: find a customer you know, book a test job, build an estimate from your own prices.
Go back with Back to your company in the banner, or Your companies › Switch on the import page.
When you're ready, drop the same files again and choose Import into your company.
Settings that change this#
Settings › Tools › Import / Export Data › Your companies: lists your real company and sandboxes with Switch buttons.
Tips#
Use the sandbox to show your office team their own customers in TradesWork before you commit.
A sandbox company has no subscription, so it never bills.
Inside a sandbox, the import page says You're in a sandbox company: a safe place to explore your own data. Importing there adds to the sandbox.
Troubleshooting#
I can't find my sandbox → you're back in your real company. → Use Your companies › Switch on the import page.
Texts or emails from the sandbox → a sandbox holds real customer contacts from your files. → Don't send messages from it; it's for looking around.
FAQ#
Can I turn the sandbox into my real company? No. Import into your real company when you're ready; it takes the same few minutes.
Is anyone else in the sandbox? Only you, as its owner.
Coming from ServiceTitan#
This is the "try it with your own ServiceTitan data" path: export your customer list and price book (about a minute each), import into a sandbox, and see your own data in TradesWork screens that use ServiceTitan's words.
