Overview#
Your data is yours. The Owner can download everything in the company at any time: one CSV per table (customers, jobs, invoices, payments, price book, audit trail and more) plus photos, in a ZIP. You cancel or change your subscription in the billing portal. After cancelling, the company becomes read-only; nothing is deleted.
Before you start#
Export: Owner only. Each export is recorded in the audit trail.
Cancel: Owner or Admin, through Manage billing.
Your Stripe payment account, its money and saved cards are yours and stay with you when you leave.
Steps#
Export everything#
Open Settings › Tools › Import / Export Data.
Scroll to Export everything.
Press Download everything (.zip). The ZIP downloads in your browser; large companies can take a few minutes.
If your company is already read-only, the settings page with this button isn't available. While signed in as the Owner, open your TradesWork address followed by /api/export (for example https://your TradesWork address/api/export) to download the same ZIP.
Cancel your subscription#
Download your export first.
Open Settings › Your Account › Plan & Billing and press Manage billing.
Cancel in the billing portal.
When the subscription ends, the plan page badge shows Canceled and the company is read-only. You can still look everything up.
Changed your mind? Choose a plan and press Subscribe to restore full access.
Wrap up your connections#
Do these before your subscription ends: once the company is read-only, settings can't be changed.
Stripe: press Disconnect in Settings › Integrations › Payment Processing if you want TradesWork to stop charging through your account. Your Stripe account is untouched.
QuickBooks: press Disconnect in Settings › Integrations › QuickBooks Online.
Phone numbers: if you want to keep them, port them to your next provider before you cancel. Contact support to arrange it.
API keys: revoke them on the Settings home page.
Settings that change this#
Settings › Your Account › Plan & Billing: plan, interval and cancellation via Manage billing.
Settings › Tools › Import / Export Data › Export everything: the full data export.
Tips#
Export before every big change, not just when leaving. It's a full backup you control.
The export includes the audit trail, so you keep a record of who did what.
Troubleshooting#
"Only the owner can export everything." → you aren't the Owner. → Ask the Owner, or have them make you an Owner.
"Sign in again." → your session expired. → Sign in and try again.
No Manage billing button → you haven't subscribed yet, or billing isn't configured on this server, or your company is managed by support. → During a trial there's nothing to cancel; otherwise contact support.
FAQ#
Does cancelling delete my data? No. The company becomes read-only and your data stays.
Are photos included? Yes, when photo storage is reachable. Each is included as a file in the ZIP.
Do my cards on file come with me? Cards saved through TradesWork live in your own Stripe account, so they stay with you.
Coming from ServiceTitan#
Leaving TradesWork is designed to be the opposite of a hard switch: one button exports everything as CSVs, and your payment account was always yours.
