Overview#

On a unit's Equipment screen, the Replace or repair? card gives a verdict (Repair makes sense, Repair, and plan the replacement, or Worth offering a replacement) with the reasons. It uses the unit's replacement score (age vs. typical life, repairs, findings, condition, refrigerant) and, when there's a repair price, the common "$5,000 rule" (age × repair price). It's rule-based and works without AI.

Before you start#

  • Settings › AI › AI assists › Replace-or-repair advisor must be on; you need estimates.write to build proposals.

  • Options come from an active proposal template that matches the unit (furnace, air conditioner, heat pump…) or, without one, the price book's replacement equipment for that kind of unit.

Steps#

  1. Open the unit from the appointment's Equipment section.

  2. On the Replace or repair? card tap See the advice.

  3. Check the facts (age, refrigerant, efficiency, repairs, findings, warranty). Under Repair price being quoted, type the repair price and tap Update (an open estimate on the job is used if there is one).

  4. Under Replacement options, compare good/better/best with the monthly payment, price and rebates.

  5. Tap Create good/better/best and present. The proposal is saved and opens in the normal presentation. Or tap Adjust in the proposal builder.

Settings that change this#

  • Settings › AI › AI assists › Replace-or-repair advisor.

  • Pricebook › Proposal templates, rebate programs and financing plans decide the options and monthly prices.

Tips#

  • Efficiency comes from your supplier catalog for the same model (or the model family, labelled as such).

Troubleshooting#

  • "No proposal template or price book equipment…" → ask the office to add a template for that kind of unit.

FAQ#

Q: Are prices from AI? No. Every price is the published price-book price.
