Overview#
My truck shows the parts on your truck, with low-stock and "check" flags. You can scan or search a part, build a restock request and send it to the warehouse, and do a blind count of your truck. When you add tracked materials to an invoice, they come out of your truck by themselves. Lines that came from a sold estimate wait for one tap: Used from your truck. All of this works with no signal and syncs later.
Before you start#
You need inventory.truck. Technicians have it. Owners and admins hold every permission. It covers your own truck only, never another one.
The office must set up your truck as an inventory location, assigned to you or to the vehicle you drive, in Purchasing › Inventory › Setup (people with inventory.manage: owners, admins, dispatchers). Until then you'll see "No truck set up for you yet."
Restock needs a warehouse to pull from. If there isn't one: "There's no warehouse to restock from yet. Ask the office."
Only items the office marks as tracked come out of stock. Barcodes on items are added by the office.
Scanning needs camera permission. You can always type the code instead.
Steps#
Open My truck#
On Today, tap My truck. (The button only shows if your role has a truck.)
The screen title is your truck's name, with the vehicle name under it.
Under On your truck, each part shows its name, code, min / max, and the quantity on hand.
Low means you're under the minimum.
Check (red, negative quantity) means more was used than the system thought you had. The office reviews it.
Find a part#
Type in Search name, code or barcode to filter the list.
Or tap Scan and point at the part's barcode or shelf label.
A card shows the part: "3 on your truck · carry 6", or "Not on your truck." for a part your truck doesn't carry.
If nothing matches, press return to look the code up on the server (needs signal).
Request restock#
Tap a part in the list to add it to the request. It adds enough to bring you back up to your maximum. Or tap Add to restock request on a scanned part.
In the Restock request card, use − and + to change quantities.
Tap Send to warehouse.
Your request appears as Restock 1042 with Requested, then Completed once the warehouse loads it, or Canceled.
With no signal: "Restock request saved on this phone. It goes to the warehouse when you have signal."
Count your truck#
On My truck, tap Count.
Read the intro: it's a blind count, so the system number is hidden. Leave a row blank to skip it.
Type the number you physically see next to each part, or tap Scan to count and scan each part. Every scan adds one ("+1 Capacitor 45/5").
Scanned parts that aren't on your list are added as Not on your list.
Tap Submit count (12). The count waits for the office to review before your stock changes. My truck shows "1 count waiting for the office to review."
Take job materials out of stock#
When you add a tracked material to the invoice from the pricebook, it comes out of your truck automatically.
Lines that came from a sold estimate show under the invoice as "Not taken from stock yet: 2 × Capacitor 45/5".
Tap Used from Truck 12. It's safe to tap twice; each line comes out once.
Afterwards the invoice shows "From Truck 12: 2 × Capacitor 45/5".
Settings that change this#
Purchasing › Inventory › Setup: truck locations, who or which vehicle each truck belongs to, tracked items, barcodes and min/max templates.
Purchasing › Inventory › Counts: the office reviews your count and taps Apply count or Reject.
Purchasing › Inventory › Transfers: the warehouse pulls your restock and marks it Pulled and loaded.
Purchasing › Inventory › Review: negative stock and invoiced materials that never came out of stock.
Tips#
Count when the truck is quiet. The server applies your count against what was on the truck at the moment you started counting, so jobs synced later don't throw it off.
Tapping a part in the list fills it up to your max in one tap. Adjust with − if you only want a few.
Restocks and counts made offline appear in the sync line at the bottom as Restock: … or Truck count: 12 items.
Troubleshooting#
"No truck set up for you yet" → the office hasn't assigned a truck to you or your vehicle → ask them to add it in Inventory.
"No item with that barcode. Ask the office to add it in Inventory setup." → the barcode isn't on any item → type the part code, and ask the office to add the barcode.
"Not on your truck. Look it up when you have signal." → you scanned a part your truck doesn't carry while offline → try again with signal.
"Count at least one item." → every row was blank → enter at least one number.
"Camera access is needed to scan" → tap Allow camera, or turn on camera access for TradesWork Field in your phone's Settings.
No "Used from" button under the invoice → the materials aren't tracked items, they already came out, or your truck isn't set up.
FAQ#
Can I see another tech's truck? No. You only see and change your own truck.
Does my count change stock right away? No. A technician's count waits for the office. A manager's count applies at once.
What if I use a part I don't have on the truck? It still comes out. The quantity can go negative and shows Check so the office can sort it out. The job is never blocked.
Coming from ServiceTitan#
Same idea as ServiceTitan's truck inventory: truck locations, replenishment from a warehouse, and materials used on invoices.
Different: counts are blind and reviewed by the office, and scanning works offline against your truck's list.
In the office, inventory lives under Purchasing › Inventory, Transfers and Counts.
