Overview#
Tap any card on Today to open its appointment. This one screen holds everything for the visit: the status button that moves the job along, the guided stages, who the customer is and where they are, what the office told you, and sections for equipment, photos, estimates, the invoice, texting and notes. On a phone the sections stack in one column. On a tablet they split into two columns: the job on the left, selling and getting paid on the right.
Before you start#
The appointment must be assigned to you. You can't open other technicians' appointments.
What you can do depends on your role. Technicians, dispatchers, owners and admins can work the appointment, sell and invoice. Technicians, owners and admins can also take payments.
Today's and tomorrow's appointments are saved on the phone, so they open without signal. Other days open once you've viewed them with signal.
Steps#
Read the header#
At the top of the screen (the title bar shows the Job #):
Badges: the status (Scheduled, Dispatched, En route, Working, Done, Canceled), On hold if paused, the priority (High or Emergency), a member badge if the address has a membership, and Waiting to sync if a status change hasn't reached the office.
The job summary in large type.
The arrival line, for example Arrive 8:00 – 10:00 AM · about 90 min on site.
The status button, such as Start driving, Arrived, start work or Finish appointment, and Pause / put on hold under it. See Statuses and holds.
The stage bar: Arrive, Diagnose, Present options, Work, Wrap up. Tap a stage to see its checklist. See Forms and checklists.
Work through the sections#
Sections only appear when they have something to show. In order:
Before you go in: a short pre-job brief. It's labeled AI summary when AI wrote it, or From your records when it was built without AI. Tap Refresh to rebuild it.
Forms ({count}): forms due on this job and Add a form for optional ones.
Location tags (for example "Dog on site", "Gate code") and Pinned for this location: notes a teammate pinned on an earlier visit, with the job number and author.
Commercial (commercial customers only): PO number, Not-to-exceed with what's used and left, the site contact with Call, the service agreement and its response time, the branch, and Tax-exempt.
Customer: name, address and email, with Call and Navigate buttons. Navigate opens your phone's maps app. Access notes from the office show in orange, for example Access: Side gate, code 4410.
The job: the job type badge, the description, and Office: … for the office's instructions. With nothing from the office it says No description from the office.
Equipment ({count}): units at this address, Scan data plate and Add by hand. See Scan equipment data plates.
Tools: Ask about this job, Troubleshoot and Calculators. See Job assistant and troubleshooting.
Photos ({count}): Take photos and Add from library. See Photos and markup.
Membership: the member's plan, or Not a member yet with Sell membership. See Memberships in the field.
Record the sales conversation: only while Working, when your company allows in-home recording and the customer agrees.
Estimates ({count}): Build estimate and Present options. See Build and present estimates.
Financing: pre-qualified offers and applications, when your company offers financing.
Invoice: Start invoice, items, totals and payment buttons. See Take payment in the field.
Text the customer: tap Text customer, type your message and tap Send text.
Voice note: only while Working or Done, when AI is on. Record what you found and did; TradesWork turns it into a note, findings, materials and draft options for you to confirm.
Notes ({count}): type in Add a note for the office and tap Add note. Check Pin to this location (shows on future visits) to keep it for the next tech.

Settings › AI › AI Assistants & Data Preferences: whether the pre-job brief, voice notes and the job assistant use AI.

Tips#
Read Before you go in and Pinned for this location in the driveway. They often hold the gate code, the dog, or what the last tech found.
Pin notes that matter for every future visit (filter size, attic access). Leave everyday notes unpinned.
If texting through TradesWork isn't available, tap Open Messages instead to send from your own phone.
Troubleshooting#
"This appointment isn't saved on this phone" → it's not today's or tomorrow's and you're offline → open it once you're back online.
"Couldn't load this appointment" → the request failed → tap Try again, or pull down to refresh.
No status button → the appointment is done or canceled, or you aren't assigned to it → check with the office.
No Build estimate or Start invoice button → your role can't sell, or the appointment is canceled → ask the office.
"The text wasn't sent." → texting isn't set up or the customer opted out → use Open Messages instead or call.
FAQ#
Can I change the customer's address or phone number? Not from the field app. Add a note for the office with the correct details.
Who sees my notes? The office sees every note on the job. Pinned notes also show to whoever visits this location next.
Why does the screen look different on my tablet? On a tablet the sections split into two columns so you see the job and the selling tools side by side.
Coming from ServiceTitan#
Same: one screen per appointment with the customer, location, job summary, equipment, estimates, invoice and notes.
Different: the guided stage bar shows what each stage still needs, the pre-job brief summarizes history before you knock, and the status button only offers moves the office's system will accept.
Where it lived: the appointment's job details screen in ServiceTitan Mobile.
