Overview#

Every time a draft is published, TradesWork records what changed for each item: the price, member price and cost before and after, who published it, which draft it came from, and the new pricebook version number. The Change log shows these records across the whole book. Each item's editor also shows that item's own price history.

Before you start#

  • You need pricebook.write. Only owners and admins can see the change log and item history. Other roles are sent to the home page.

  • Only published changes appear. Changes still in a draft are not in the log. See Bulk edit and drafts.

Steps#

Open the change log#

  1. Go to Pricebook › History, or click the Change log tab on the pricebook page.

  2. You also land here right after you publish a draft, with a message like "Published version 8: 14 items changed."

Read the change log#

The table shows the most recent 300 changes, newest first. Columns:

  • When: date and time of the publish, in your local time.

  • Version: the pricebook version this publish created, for example "v8". All items changed in one publish share a version.

  • Item: the item's name at the time. Click it to open the item.

  • Price, Member and Cost: the old value struck through and the new value next to it. Green means it went up, red means it went down. A single value in grey means that field didn't change.

  • By: the person who published.

  • Draft: the draft the change came from, for example "Working draft", "Cost update: [vendor]" or "[Supplier]: [file name]".

If nothing has been published yet, the page shows "Nothing published yet. Changes appear here once you publish a draft."

See one item's history#

  1. Open the item from Pricebook › Services & Materials.

  2. Find the Price history panel on the right.

  3. It lists the last 20 published versions for that item with Ver., Price and Cost, before and after. If the item hasn't changed through a publish yet, it says "No published changes yet."

Settings that change this#

None. Every publish is logged automatically, and the log can't be edited.

Tips#

  • Use the Draft column to tell a supplier cost update apart from a manual price increase.

  • Items changed only because a rule moved them still appear, so you can see the knock-on effect of a markup table change.

  • Every publish is also written to the company audit trail.

Troubleshooting#

  • A change I made isn't in the log. It hasn't been published. Check the Not live yet: strip on the pricebook page.

  • The item name in the log is different from today's. The log keeps the name the item had when it was published.

  • I need changes older than the last 300. The page shows the latest 300. Each item's Price history shows its last 20 versions.

  • The item was created but has no history. Creating an item puts it in the book right away and is not a publish. Its history starts with the first published change.

FAQ#

Q: Can I roll back to an earlier version? There is no one-click rollback. Use the log to see the old values, then stage them in the working draft and publish.

Q: Does the log show changes to estimates? No. It covers the pricebook only. Estimates keep the prices they were built with.

Q: Can I export the log? Not from this page. Owners can download all company data, including the price book and audit trail, from Settings › Tools › Import / Export Data under Export everything.

Coming from ServiceTitan#

  • Similar to the pricebook history and audit views in ServiceTitan.

  • Different: changes are grouped by publish version, so you can see everything that went live together, and each row names the draft it came from.
