Overview#
Financing helps customers say yes to bigger jobs. TradesWork shows "as low as $X/mo" on options, lets customers or your team start an application, and tracks each application through to funding. Lender connections aren't built yet, so every application today is assisted: TradesWork opens a task, your office helps the customer apply on the lender's own website, and you record the lender's decision by hand. Nothing is ever shown as approved unless you recorded it.
Before you start#
Financing settings and plans need financing.manage (Owner, Admin).
Starting an application needs financing.apply (Owner, Admin, Dispatcher, Customer service, Accounting, Technician on their jobs).
Recording lender decisions needs financing.records (Owner, Admin, Dispatcher, Customer service, Accounting).
You need an account with at least one lender (GreenSky, Synchrony, Service Finance, Wells Fargo, Wisetack, or another lender).
Steps#
Set up financing#
Go to Settings › Integrations › Financing.
Tick Offer financing and, if you want, Show "as low as $X/mo" on every option.
Set the Lender order (waterfall) (up to 4). If one lender declines, the next one is tried.
Under Financing plans, add each plan: Name, Lender, Type (Fixed APR, 0% APR, equal payments or Same as cash (deferred interest)), Term (months), APR %, Promo months, Dealer fee %, Minimum $, Maximum $, Lender plan code, Sort, Disclosure shown to customers, and whether to show it on options.
Optionally add Extended warranty plans to offer as add-ons.
Save.
Start an application from the job#
On the job's Financing card, open Start an application.
Pick the option (or Enter an amount instead), the plan (or First lender in the waterfall) and an optional Amount $.
Click Start application. The status is Office to help apply, and a task is created for the office.
Use Copy customer link to share the customer's application page.
Customers can also tap Apply for financing on their One Link.
Help the customer apply and record the decision#
Help the customer apply on the lender's portal.
On the application, open Record the lender's decision. Set Status, Approved $, Lender reference and a Note, and click Save.
A decline moves the application to the next lender in your waterfall.
Application statuses#
Office to help apply, Link sent, Submitted, Lender reviewing, Approved, Declined, Funded, Canceled, Expired.
Settings that change this#
Settings › Integrations › Financing: everything above.
Tips#
Show the monthly price on every option. It changes how customers compare.
The office-only line on each option shows the dealer fee and what you net, so you can price with it in mind.
Record decisions the same day so the technician and customer see the right status.
Troubleshooting#
"Financing is turned off. An owner can turn it on in Settings → Financing." → turn on Offer financing.
"Add a financing plan first (Settings → Financing)." → add at least one plan.
"That amount is below the plan's minimum." / "…above the plan's maximum." → pick another plan or amount.
"Only an approved application can be funded." → record Approved before Funded.
"This application is closed. Start a new one if the customer wants to apply again."
Prescreen is greyed out → prescreen needs a connected lender; none can be connected yet.
FAQ#
Does TradesWork send applications to the lender automatically? Not yet. Lender connections are coming soon. Today every application is assisted by your office.
Does "Funded" mark the invoice paid? No. Record the lender's payment on the invoice separately (for example as Bank transfer).
Are monthly prices a promise? No. They're estimates; the page says financing is subject to the lender's credit approval.
Coming from ServiceTitan#
Same idea as: ServiceTitan's financing settings and in-app financing applications.
Different: there are no live lender integrations yet, so applications are assisted and decisions are recorded by hand.
Where it lived: ServiceTitan Settings › Financing; Settings › Integrations › Financing and the job's Financing card in TradesWork.
