Overview#
Options sell better with context. TradesWork lets you show rebates as an "after rebate" price (the invoice is never reduced), attach brochures and spec sheets customers can open, add proof ("Why we recommend this") from the technician's findings, offer extended-warranty add-ons the customer can tick, and suggest items that usually go together while technicians build options.
Before you start#
Managing the rebate program list, document library and suggested add-ons needs proposals.manage (Owner, Admin, Dispatcher). Everyone else sees them read-only.
Adding rebates, brochures and add-ons to an option needs estimates.write.
Warranty add-ons need warranty plans set up in Settings › Integrations › Financing (Extended warranty plans).
Uploading documents needs file storage configured.
Steps#
Set up rebate programs#
Go to Pricebook › Proposal Templates › Rebate programs.
In Add a rebate program, enter Program (for example "DTE high-efficiency furnace"), Paid by (Utility, Manufacturer, Government / tax credit or Other), Amount ($), Expires, Notes (eligibility, how to claim) and tick Active.
Click Add program. Expired programs drop off technicians' lists automatically.
Add a rebate to an option#
On the job, open Edit option on an open option.
Under rebates, pick a program or Custom rebate (type below) and fill Program name, Amount ($), paid by and expiry.
Click Add rebate (up to 6 per option). Click Remove to take one off.
Customers see each rebate and an After rebates price, with "You pay $X today; the rebate(s) are paid to you by the program once approved."
Build the brochure library#
Go to Pricebook › Proposal Templates › Brochures & spec sheets.
In Upload, enter a Name, choose the File (PDF, JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB) and click Upload.
To retire one, click Archive (Restore brings it back). Options already showing it keep it.
Attach a brochure to an option#
In Edit option, pick from Attach a brochure… and click Attach (up to 10 per option).
Remove it with the × on its chip. Customers open brochures from the presentation and the One Link.
Offer a warranty add-on#
On the job's Financing card, under Open options, pick a warranty plan and click Offer warranty add-on.
The customer can tick it on the presentation or the One Link. Ticked add-ons are billed when the option is sold.
A sold extended warranty creates a registration task for the office to complete with the provider.
Set suggested add-ons#
Go to Pricebook › Proposal Templates › Suggested add-ons.
Pick an item under When a tech adds…, tick what to suggest (up to 8) and click Save suggestions.
In the Field app, technicians see "Often added with {name}" chips right after adding that item. Items often sold together are also suggested automatically.
Proof ("Why we recommend this")#
Technicians link equipment findings or form answers (with photos) to an option in the Field app. They show on the presentation and the One Link. In the office you can only remove a proof link (× on its chip).
Settings that change this#
Settings › Integrations › Financing: extended warranty plans and monthly prices.
Pricebook › Proposal Templates: rebates, brochures and add-ons can be pre-attached in templates.
Tips#
Keep rebate expiry dates current so customers never see an expired offer.
Energy savings show as "An estimate, not a guarantee." Fill How it's estimated so the number is believable.
One good spec sheet per system beats five brochures.
Troubleshooting#
"Enter the rebate amount." → amount is empty.
"Files up to 10 MB, please." / "Use a PDF, JPEG, PNG or WebP file." / "That file isn't the type it claims to be." → upload a real PDF or image under 10 MB.
"File storage isn't configured." → document uploads aren't set up on your account → contact support.
"That document was archived by the office." → restore it in the library first.
"Add-ons can only be added to an open option." → the option is sold or dismissed.
FAQ#
Does a rebate reduce the invoice? No. Rebates are shown to explain the customer's net cost. The program pays the customer.
Can I delete a rebate program or document? No. Untick Active on a program; Archive a document.
Are warranty registrations sent to the provider automatically? Not yet. Without a connected provider, TradesWork creates an office task to register it on the provider's site.
Coming from ServiceTitan#
Same idea as: ServiceTitan's upgrades, recommendations and sales-tool attachments.
Different: rebates show an after-rebate price without touching the invoice. Customers tick add-ons themselves on the presentation or One Link.
Where it lived: spread across ServiceTitan's pricebook and sales settings; one Proposals area in TradesWork with tabs for templates, rebates, brochures and add-ons.
