Overview#
The Time screen is your time clock. You clock in when you start work and out when you finish. In between, your drive and job time fill in by themselves from your job statuses, so you only tap for things like shop time, travel, training and breaks. You can see each day of the week, your regular and overtime hours, and then submit the week to the office for approval. Pay rates are never shown here.
Before you start#
You need timesheets.own. Technicians, dispatchers, customer service, accounting, owners and admins have it. Viewers don't, and the Time card stays hidden for them.
Clock taps work with no signal. Submitting the week needs signal.
The office sets your workweek, overtime rules, rounding and time codes in Settings › People › Payroll.
Steps#
Open the Time screen#
On Today, find the Time card near the top. It shows On the clock or Off the clock, what you're doing now and This week X h.
Tap the card to open Time.
Clock in#
Under Now, read the hint: "Clock in when you start work. Drive and job time fill in by themselves from your job statuses."
Tap Clock in · Shop (the default activity), or tap another activity button, such as Training or Office.
The badge changes to On the clock and shows Since 7:02 AM and the time elapsed.
Let your jobs set drive and job time#
When you mark an appointment En route, the clock switches to Drive for that job.
When you mark it Working, it switches to On job · Job #10001.
When you mark it Done, the clock switches to Between jobs if you're still on the clock.
While a job sets your activity, you'll see "Set by your job status. Mark the job Done (or switch below) to change it."
Switch activities#
While on the clock, tap one of the quick buttons: Shop, Travel, Meal break, Rest break or Training (only the ones your company keeps active).
The current activity ends and the new one starts at the time you tapped.
Clock out#
Tap Clock out. The badge returns to Off the clock.
Check your week#
Use ‹ Prev and Next › to move between weeks. The heading reads Week of Mar 3 with a status badge: Open, Submitted, Approved or Exported.
The totals card shows Worked, Regular, Overtime, Double time and Holiday (when they apply) and Tips.
The caption "Overtime preview (…). Final hours are what the office approves." names your company's overtime rule.
Under Days, each day lists its hours and each segment, for example "Drive 7:40 AM–8:05 AM · On job 8:05 AM–10:12 AM".
If anything looks off, a Check these section lists it (for example a very long drive or a missing clock-out).
Submit the week#
Clock out first. If you're still clocked in, you'll see "You're still clocked in. Clock out before submitting this week."
Under Submit this week, check your days.
Optional: type a Note for the office, such as "Forgot to clock out Tuesday, left at 4:30."
Tap Submit week. The week shows "Submitted. The office will review it."
After the office approves it, you'll see "Approved by the office. Ask them if something needs fixing."
Settings that change this#
Settings › People › Payroll:
Workweek and overtime: when the week starts, the pay period, the overtime rule (a named preset or Custom), rounding of clock times, and paid holidays.
Time codes: rename codes, mark them paid or unpaid, turn them on or off, or add your own (for example "Continuing education"). Drive and On job are always on because job statuses use them. Unpaid codes, like meal breaks, don't count toward hours.
Office review happens in Schedule › Timesheets (people with timesheets.read or timesheets.manage).
Tips#
Tap the moment you change activity. With no signal, the app keeps the exact time you tapped, not the time it synced.
You don't need to clock Drive or On job yourself. Keep your job statuses current and the day builds itself.
My pay is at the top of the Time screen if your company uses performance pay.
Troubleshooting#
"1 clock change waiting for signal. It keeps the time you tapped." → you're offline → nothing to do. It sends when you have signal. See the sync line at the bottom of the screen.
"No saved timesheet for this week on this phone." → the week hasn't downloaded yet → open the Time screen once with signal.
Submit week button is greyed out → you're still clocked in, or you have no signal ("Submitting needs signal.") → clock out, or wait for signal.
A week shows Approved and you need a change → approved weeks are locked → ask the office to reopen it.
The Time card isn't on Today → your role has no timesheet → ask the office.
FAQ#
Can I edit a clock time on the phone? No. Add a note when you submit, and the office edits it with a reason. Every office edit is logged.
Do breaks count toward my hours? Only if the office marks that code as paid. By default, Meal break is unpaid and Rest break is paid.
Can I see my pay rate? No. The Time screen never shows rates. My pay shows what you've earned if your company uses pay plans.
What if I forget to clock out? The office sees it as an exception. Add a note when you submit, and they fix it.
Coming from ServiceTitan#
Same: clock in/out from the phone, timesheet codes, and drive and working time taken from job statuses.
Different: the week view shows an overtime preview and lets you submit the week with a note. The office approves it and exports payroll.
Where it lived: the ServiceTitan mobile timesheet and Settings › Payroll › Timesheet codes. In TradesWork it's Settings › People › Payroll and Schedule › Timesheets.
