Overview#
Today is the first screen you see in TradesWork Field. It lists the appointments the office has assigned to you, with the arrival window, the job, the customer and the address on each card. Tabs across the top switch to other days, the next 30 days, the last 30 days, or the appointments you've paused. Every view you open is saved on the phone, so it still shows when you lose signal.
Before you start#
You need to be signed in (see Sign in to TradesWork Field).
You see appointments you're assigned to. The office assigns and dispatches them from the dispatch board.
Some buttons depend on your role. My truck shows for people who work a truck's stock. Business shows for owners and admins.
Steps#
Read the top of the screen#
From top to bottom, the header area shows:
My game (top left): your points, streaks and badges.
Account (top right): appearance, language, terminology, photo quality, the practice company, help, feedback and Sign out. See Field app settings and feedback.
A Practice banner, only while you're in the practice company.
Your first name and company, for example Luis · Comfort Pros.
On the Today tab only:
An arrival prompt when GPS puts you at a job site ("You're at #1042 … Start the job?").
Your location sharing card (for example Sharing location, Paused or Not sharing).
Your time clock card (On the clock or Off the clock). See Clock in and out.
Business (owners and admins), My truck (see My truck stock) and Calculators.
Switch views#
Tap a tab in the strip:
Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow: one day each.
Upcoming: the next 30 days.
Previous: the last 30 days, newest first.
On hold: every appointment you've paused, whatever its date ("Paused appointments, any date").
Under the tabs, a count line sums up the view, for example Tue, Oct 15 · 5 appointments, 3 open. "Open" means not done and not canceled.
Read an appointment card#
Each card shows:
Arrival window at the top left, such as 8:00 – 10:00 AM. On Upcoming, Previous and On hold, the date is added in front.
Badges at the top right:
Priority: High or Emergency (normal priority shows no badge).
On hold, if you paused it.
Status: Scheduled, Dispatched, En route, Working, Done or Canceled.
The job summary in large type (for example "No heat: furnace won't light").
The customer's name.
The street and city, the Job # and the job type.
For paused appointments, the reason, such as On hold · Waiting on parts.
Status change waiting to sync in orange if you changed the status with no signal.
High-priority cards have an orange stripe on the left edge; emergencies have a red one. Done and canceled cards are dimmed.
Tap a card to open the appointment. See The appointment screen.
Refresh#
Pull down on the list to refresh. Refreshing also downloads what the app needs for offline use (today's and tomorrow's appointments, forms and the pricebook).
Settings that change this#
Settings › Integrations › Mobile: the company's default terminology. Commercial wording says Client and Job site instead of Customer and Location. Each technician can override it in Account › Terminology.
Settings › Integrations › GPS: whether the location sharing card and arrival prompts appear.
Settings › People › Payroll: the time clock card.
Your office's look (Settings › Your Account › Appearance) changes some words, for example Visits instead of Appointments.
Tips#
On a tablet, the list shows two columns.
Start each morning with a pull-to-refresh while you still have signal at the shop. Then the day is on your phone even in basements and dead zones.
Use On hold as your parts-and-callbacks list. Anything you paused waits there until you resume it.
Troubleshooting#
"Nothing on your schedule today" → nothing is assigned or dispatched to you yet → pull down to refresh. If you expect work, call the office.
"No saved schedule for this view on this phone." → you're offline and haven't opened this view with signal before → it downloads the next time you have signal.
"Your session expired…" notice → sign out and back in. You'll be asked before any unsent change is deleted.
An error message under the tabs → the office's system refused the request → pull to refresh; if it repeats, tell the office the exact message.
A card says "Status change waiting to sync" → you changed the status offline → it goes out when you have signal. Check the sync banner at the bottom of the screen.
FAQ#
Can I see other technicians' jobs? No. The field app shows only the appointments you're assigned to.
How far ahead can I see? Upcoming covers the next 30 days. Previous covers the last 30 days.
Why is a done job still on my list? The day views show everything on that day, including finished and canceled appointments. They're dimmed so open work stands out.
