Overview#
The field app shows you when the address you're at already has a membership, and what that member gets. Members see their member price when you present options, and their repair discount is added to the invoice by itself. If the address has no plan, you can sell one right on the appointment: the customer picks a plan, reads what it includes, and signs on your phone or tablet. The fee goes on today's invoice and the member discount applies to today's repairs.
Before you start#
You sell on a job when your role can write estimates or jobs. Technicians, dispatchers, owners and admins can. Customer service, accounting and viewers don't use this screen.
The office must set up at least one active plan in Settings › Operations › Memberships (owners and admins, memberships.manage). With no plans, the app shows No plans to offer and Ask the office to set up membership plans.
Selling needs signal. The member badge and member pricing show offline from the last sync.
The appointment must not be canceled. You can only sell for the job's own customer and address.
The job's invoice must be open. If it's already paid or voided, the sale is refused with "The job's invoice is closed. Reopen it before adding the membership."
Steps#
See if the customer is a member#
Open the appointment from Today.
Next to the status, look for the green badge. It reads like Member · Comfort Club · 1 visit left. No badge means the address has no active or upcoming plan.
Scroll to the Membership section. For a member it shows:
The plan name and a Member badge (or Starts soon if the plan begins on a future date).
The repair discount, for example 15% off repairs: applied on the invoice automatically.
Visits left this term and the renewal date, for example 1 of 2 visits left this term · renews Mar 3, 2027.
Use member pricing#
When you build an estimate and tap Add from pricebook, items with a published member price show Member $X under the regular price.
On the estimate screen, a Member price line shows what a member would pay for the option.
When you tap Present options, members see Member price · you save $X and the lower total on each option card. The signature line reads "…, $X with your member discount."
On the invoice, the plan's discount appears as its own line, such as Comfort Club member discount −15%. It covers service (labor) lines only. Materials, equipment, membership fees, financing charges and extended warranties are never discounted.
Sell a membership on the job#
On a non-member appointment, find the Membership section. It says Not a member yet and offers the plan.
Tap Sell membership. Hand the phone or tablet to the customer. This screen is written for the homeowner.
If you have more than one plan, the customer sees each plan card: what's included, how often visits happen, the repair discount, the term and the price. They tap Choose this plan. With one plan, it opens straight to that plan.
Under Agree and sign, the customer reads the terms. For example: "By signing, you join Comfort Club for 12 months at $19/mo, renewing automatically until you cancel. Today's first month is added to this visit's invoice."
The customer checks Printed name (it starts with the customer's name) and signs in the box.
They tap Join for $X. To compare again, tap See other plans.
The app shows Welcome to Comfort Club and the member discount for today. It returns to the appointment after a few seconds, or tap Done.
Back on the appointment, the badge now shows the new plan, the fee is on the invoice and the repair discount is applied.
Settings that change this#
Settings › Operations › Memberships: plans, prices, billing (one time, monthly or yearly), term length, auto-renew, included visits and the repair discount. Inactive plans aren't offered.
Pricebook › Services & Materials (each item's page): the item's member price, which the field app shows as Member $X. The plan's repair discount is used when an item has no member price of its own.
Follow Up › Memberships in the office: visits due, renewals and expirations after the sale.
Tips#
Offer the plan before you present repair options. Once the customer joins, the member discount shows on every option and lowers today's repair bill.
The Comfort Closer badge in My game counts memberships you sell. Your pay plan may also pay a spiff per membership; see My pay.
The plan card speaks to the customer in their language if your phone is set to Spanish.
Troubleshooting#
No Membership section on the appointment → the address is not a member and either no plans exist or your role can't sell → ask the office to add a plan, or check your role.
"Already a Comfort Club member" → the address already has an active or upcoming plan → nothing to sell. The office can change plans on the customer page.
"The job's invoice is closed. Reopen it before adding the membership." → the invoice was paid or voided → ask the office to reopen it, or have them sell the plan from the office.
Sale doesn't go through with no signal → selling isn't queued → wait for signal, then tap Join for $X again. The app sends the same request id, so you won't create two memberships.
Member discount missing on the invoice → the plan has no repair discount, starts in the future, or the invoice was already closed → check the plan in Settings.
FAQ#
Can I sell a membership offline? No. Selling needs a connection. Everything else on the appointment keeps working offline.
Does the membership fee get a member discount? No. Membership fees are never discounted.
What if the customer signs and the signal drops? Tap Join for $X again when you're back online. The request carries the same id, so it is saved once.
Can I sell for a different address? No. The sale is always for the job's customer and address.
Coming from ServiceTitan#
Same idea as selling a membership from the ServiceTitan mobile app: plan, terms, signature, fee on the invoice.
Different: the member badge shows visits left and renewal date right next to the status, and member pricing appears automatically when you present options.
The office side lives under Follow Up › Memberships and Settings › Operations › Memberships, close to ServiceTitan's Memberships module.
