Overview#

TradesWork can look like the app your team already knows. A "look" changes how the left menu is organized and what the main records are called. For example, the Jobber-style look says Clients, Requests, Quotes and Visits; the FieldEdge-style look says Work orders and Service agreements. Only the presentation changes: your data, reports, exports, permissions and integrations stay exactly the same whichever look is on.

Before you start#

  • Anyone in the office can choose their own look.

  • Only Owners and Admins can set the Company default that everyone sees until they pick their own.

  • Technicians in the field app follow the company's words for jobs, estimates and appointments.

Steps#

Choose your own look#

  1. Open Settings › Your Account › Appearance (the page is titled Look and feel). On a wide screen you can also use the Look and feel drop-down in the top bar, next to the palette icon.

  2. Under Your look, pick one:

    • Company default (follows whatever the company chose).

    • Familiar to ServiceTitan users: module groups down the left (Calls, Schedule, Dispatch, Accounting, Purchasing, Follow Up, Reports, Marketing, Pricebook, Tasks). This is the TradesWork default.

    • Familiar to Housecall Pro users: Customers, Jobs, Estimates, Leads and Invoices as top-level lists, then Communications, Money, Marketing, Reporting and Team. Service plans instead of memberships.

    • Familiar to Jobber users: Clients, Requests, Quotes, Jobs, Invoices, with Schedule above. Visits instead of appointments.

    • Familiar to FieldEdge users: Dispatch board first, then Customers, Work orders, Service agreements, Invoices, Quotes and Items.

  3. Each option shows its menu and a sample of its words, so you can compare before you save.

  4. Press Save my look. The menu and labels change right away. Only you see this.

Set the company default#

  1. On the same page, scroll to Company default.

  2. Pick the look the whole team should start with.

  3. Press Save company default. Everyone who hasn't picked their own look sees it on their next page.

Settings that change this#

  • Settings › Your Account › Appearance: your look and the company default.

  • Settings › Integrations › Mobile: residential or commercial wording in the field app (Customer and Location, or Client and Job site). For customers and locations, the commercial setting wins over the look.

Tips#

  • Moving a whole team from one app? Set the company default to match it, then let individuals switch back to the ServiceTitan-style look as they get comfortable.

  • Every page is reachable in every look. Pages the other app has no place for are in a More group at the bottom of the menu.

  • Help articles use the default (ServiceTitan-style) names. If your look renames something, the page is the same.

Troubleshooting#

  • I can't find a page after switching → it moved to the matching group in that look, or to More. → Check More, or switch back to the ServiceTitan-style look.

  • I don't see the drop-down in the top bar → it shows only on wide screens. → Use the palette icon or Settings › Your Account › Appearance.

  • I don't see Company default → you aren't an Owner or Admin. → Ask your owner.

  • My report or export still says Job, not Work order → by design. Reports, exports, the API and integrations keep the standard names so your files and connected apps never break.

FAQ#

Does a look change any of my data? No. It changes navigation and words only.

Are these the other companies' designs? No. They follow the publicly documented menu order and terms of those apps so switching feels familiar. TradesWork isn't affiliated with those companies, and the colors and icons are TradesWork's own.

Can I mix, for example Jobber menus with ServiceTitan words? No. Each look is a complete set.

Coming from ServiceTitan#

The default look already follows ServiceTitan's module order and vocabulary (Customer, Location, Job, Appointment, Business unit, Campaign, Pricebook). If you're coming from ServiceTitan you don't need to change anything.
