Overview#

The Owner view is TradesWork Field for running the business from the road. It opens for Owners, Admins, Accounting, Customer service and Viewers (anyone whose role reads reports), and it's built for a phone. You see this month's key numbers against the same days last month with a 12-month trend, your alerts and what needs doing, the AI Team and anything waiting for your approval, today's dispatch board at a glance and where your people are. It's read-mostly: the only thing you change here is approving or rejecting AI Team work.

Before you start#

  • Role: a role that reads reports (Owner, Admin, Accounting, Customer service or Viewer). Approving AI work needs a role that can approve it (Owner, Admin, Dispatcher or Accounting). The board glance needs job access; the team glance needs the live map permission.

  • App: open TradesWork Field (see Get the TradesWork Field app). If you also work appointments or sell, you can switch views; see Switching app views.

  • Positions: the team glance shows positions only when trucks or phones share location (Settings › Fleet). Off-duty people are hidden.

Steps#

Read the numbers#

  1. Open TradesWork Field. You land on Business (the Overview tab).

  2. Each tile shows a number for this month so far, a colored change against the same days last month (green when it moved the good way, red when it didn't) and a small trend line of the past 11 whole months:

    • Revenue, Sold, Jobs booked, Close rate, Accounts receivable, Capacity booked, Lead booking rate and Average ticket.

  3. Tap a tile to see the last 12 months as bars, this month next to the same days last month, and how the number is defined. The last bar is this month so far.

  4. A tile that reads "—" has no data yet; it's never shown as 0. "No comparison yet" means there's nothing to compare against.

Act on what needs you#

  1. AI Team: shows how many agents are active, hours saved this week and what they did. Tap Review N approvals (or the AI Team tab).

  2. On AI Team, each item waiting for you shows what it does and why. Tap Approve to apply it (through the same checks as the office) or Reject to dismiss it. Approving needs signal.

  3. Alerts lists your watchlist alerts (set them up from Ask). Needs doing lists what's at stake, such as aging estimates or overdue invoices.

Ask the business#

  1. Tap Ask a question on the overview, or the Ask tab.

  2. Type a question like "What did we collect this week?" and tap Ask. Answers come from your metric dictionary and show how each number is defined. You can also manage your watchlist there. See Ask the business, watchlists and alerts.

Glance at today#

  1. Today's board: how many appointments are scheduled, dispatched, en route, working and done, plus any unassigned or on hold. Read only: dispatch from the office.

  2. Where the team is: each person's last position placed to scale on a sketch of the area (not a map, so it works on weak signal), with the job they're on.

Settings that change this#

  • Settings › People › Employees & Role Permissions: roles and each person's App view.

  • AI Team (office, top bar): each agent's autonomy and guardrails decide what waits for approval.

  • Settings › Fleet: trackers, phone location sharing and the off-duty privacy rule.

  • Reports › Insights: watchlists and alert delivery.

Tips#

  • Pull down to refresh. With no signal, the last numbers loaded stay on screen with a note saying so.

  • The tile comparison is fair mid-month: the 15th is compared with the 1st–15th of last month, not the whole month.

  • Use Ask for anything not on a tile: "Close rate for the install business unit last quarter".

Troubleshooting#

  • "The Owner view needs report access" → your role doesn't read reports → ask an Owner or Admin, or switch views in Account.

  • No AI Team card → your role can't see the AI Team → Owners, Admins and roles that approve AI work see it.

  • No approve buttons → your role can see the AI Team but not approve → "Your role can see the AI Team but not approve its work."

  • "Approving needs signal" → no connection → try again with signal.

  • No positions → no trackers or phones are sharing location, or everyone is off duty → see Settings › Fleet.

FAQ#

Are these the same numbers as the office dashboard? Yes. They come from the same metric dictionary, so a tile matches the office report for the same dates.

Can I dispatch or edit jobs from here? No. The Owner view is read-mostly. Use the office site, or switch to the technician view if your role works appointments.

Does it work on an iPad? Yes. On a tablet the numbers and the glance sit next to the AI Team, alerts and needs-doing.
