Overview#

Present mode is the customer's screen. You hand the iPad (or phone) to the homeowner and they see, in order: Your home today (what you found, before any price), their Options, a Compare table, then Approve and sign. While they hold it the screen is locked to the presentation, so nobody can wander into your schedule, notes, costs or pay. Only you can leave it.

Before you start#

  • Options: at least one open estimate or proposal on the appointment (build one in the Sales view Proposal step or with Pick items).

  • Findings (optional): pick what to show under Your home today in the Sales view visit, or mark photos as findings in the Shot list. With none, the presentation opens on the options.

  • Compare details (optional): the office fills in the Compare view fields on each proposal template option (Proposal templates). Without them, Compare shows monthly and total prices only.

  • Monthly payments: financing must be on with plans shown on options (Settings › Financing). See if you qualify shows only when a lender is connected to TradesWork.

  • Lock: for Face ID, Touch ID or passcode confirmation the device needs a passcode. On a device without one, or in a web browser, the 1.5 second hold is the only lock, and the hand-over screen says so.

Steps#

Hand over#

  1. Tap Present on the visit (or Present to customer on the appointment).

  2. On Ready to hand over to {name}, pick the Customer's language: English or Español. The customer can switch it later with the button at the top.

  3. Tap Start presentation and hand over the device. (Not yet goes back; nothing is locked yet.)

What the customer sees#

  1. Your home today: each finding with its photo and markup, a Good, Fair or Poor condition and the comfort problem; Your equipment with each unit's age against its typical life; What matters to you. They tap See your options.

  2. Options: one card per option in your company's order (Good → Best or Best → Good). Every card has the same sections in the same place: picture and name, price, What's included, then add-ons, rebates and proof, so the eye can scan across. The price leads with the monthly payment (for example $92.19/mo, "As low as, per month") and shows Or pay with the total, the price after rebates and the member price. One line under the cards gives the financing terms.

  3. Monthly payments over: the customer taps 60 mo or 120 mo (the terms your company offers); every card updates.

  4. Recommended for your home sits on the option you recommended, with your one-line reason. Most popular appears only when your own customers picked that option most (20 or more sales of the template in 90 days).

  5. Fixes: a line on each option listing the findings it solves.

  6. Compare: the options as columns and comfort, efficiency, sound level, warranty, smart thermostat, energy cost / year, monthly and total as rows. Empty details show "—". On a phone or a narrow split screen each row becomes a card.

  7. See if you qualify (when a lender is connected): Apply on this device opens the lender's application; Send the link to my phone shares it. The status (for example Application in review or Approved for $8,000) appears on the sign screen as the lender reports it. A pre-qualified offer is always labelled as one, never as an approval.

  8. Choose {option} → Approve and sign: printed name, signature, On this visit or Schedule it for later, then Approve and sign.

  9. Thank you, {name}: the sale is saved (on the device first when there's no signal) and the screen asks the customer to hand the device back.

Take the device back#

  1. Touch and hold the lock at the top right. A ring fills for 1.5 seconds.

  2. Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. The visit opens again.

Settings that change this#

  • Settings › Field app › Sales presentation: option order, the card phones open on, whether Most popular may show. See Sales presentation settings.

  • Proposal templates › Compare view: the rows of the Compare table and a product video per option.

  • Settings › Financing: plans, terms and lenders.

Tips#

  • On iPad, also turn on Guided Access (Settings › Accessibility › Guided Access, then triple-click the top button) to keep the customer in TradesWork for the whole visit.

  • Walk the customer through Your home today first. Agreeing on the problem before the price is what makes the options make sense.

  • Recommend one option and say why in one line. Customers trust a specific reason more than a label.

Troubleshooting#

  • The lock doesn't ask for Face ID → the device has no passcode, or you're in a browser → set a passcode; on the web the hold is the only lock.

  • "Couldn't confirm it's you" → Face ID or the passcode was cancelled → hold the lock again.

  • No Your home today page → no findings were picked and the visit suggests none → add findings in the visit.

  • Compare only shows prices → the template options have no Compare details → the office fills them in on the proposal template.

  • No See if you qualify → no lender is connected, or financing is off → Settings › Financing.

  • Applying needs a connection → no signal → try again with signal; everything else in the presentation works offline.

FAQ#

Can the customer see costs, margins or my pay? No. The presentation is built from an allow-list of customer-safe details (names, items, prices, rebates, findings). Costs, job numbers, notes, pay and coaching never reach it, and an automated test checks that.

What if the iPad goes back to the home screen? The presentation stays where it was. Guided Access prevents leaving the app at all.

Does it work with no signal? Yes. Findings, options, Compare and monthly prices are on the device, and the signature saves on the device and syncs later. Applying for financing needs signal.

Coming from ServiceTitan#

  • Same: Present Proposal with a Findings tab before the options, good / better / best with financing, signature on the device.

  • Different: the presentation locks until you confirm it's you, the customer can switch to Spanish, Compare lines the options up row by row, and the monthly term is the customer's choice.

  • Where it lived: ServiceTitan Mobile › Estimates › Present Proposal.
